Despite all the advantages they offer, I am thinking about not to pay for an other Year. This thought came when I realised that in other to sell online, in POD (print on demand) websites where there are millions of works and artists, I must have the maximum print available I can offer to get better position in search engineers and in the POD itself. Unless I have established customers and some how a known name somewhere, it is hard to be found and sell with less than 500 or even 1000 images in my account.
The problem I have with it starts when I over look quality and what I really want to work on and instead try to photograph what seems to sell better in PODs. It takes the time and inspiration I should be using to do what I really want to make. And I am into photography to work on what I like and enjoy doing and not what others want to see me doing. This is the reason I stop offering portraits services and others commercial works.
The second reason, came when I realised that what I like to do is to make my prints, work on my photographs. Selling digital prints, despite it is nice and helpful to have the extra money from it, it doesn't actually makes me work on my images like traditional print does. Therefore, instead of promote my digital prints I started to focus on promoting my traditional works.
I am still able to offer digital copies through FineArtAmerica.com without a PRO account but it will be limited to 25 images which I think is a very good number. After all it will make me more selective based on quality and what I like instead of dump as many images I can to get attention in search engineers.
If I regret the decision on not update my account in FAA for an other year now, I can change my mind anytime. After all the fee is just $30 dollars.
